It is nothing with kernel IMHO. You only messed up graphics driver, haven't you watched the video of Linus Torvalds saying "fsck you nVidia"? Try (in succession in terminal):

sudo eopkg clean
sudo eopkg rebuild-db
sudo eopkg update-repo
sudo eopkg upgrade
