Installing Double Commander in GNOME

This is a simple guide for installing Double Commander, a dual pane file browser, in GNOME. Using midnight commander works, but imho it's much more efficient to use double commander. - Download latest GNU/Linux portable 64 bit gtk2 compressed archive. - extract it to home directory - rename it to "....

Re: Boot into GRUB rescue after fresh install

Was tired last night and didn't read "Grub in Solus doesn't support NVMe drives, as it's for legacy installations."

Re: Boot into GRUB rescue after fresh install

It's a BIOS-only motherboard: Asus P6T-Deluxe from 2009. I use a controller for the nvme drive. Other distro's run, but I haven't managed to boot Solus on it. I've been using Solus on my EFI laptop and prefer it over anything else I've tried. Is the reason it cannot boot because it expects EFI evenh...

Re: Boot into GRUB rescue after fresh install

So I saw elsewhere in the forum to mount a disk at boot, which I assume for me is "/dev/nvme0n1p1", as it has some grub files in it. I also saw usage of "mount --bind /run /target/run" which is not in the boot rescue guide. Now the last part of what I do is: root@solus /home/live # mount /dev/SolusS...

Boot into GRUB rescue after fresh install

I installed an encrypted Solus to my nvme drive, but I get a GRUB rescue screen at boot. Using the Boot Rescue guide I get the following result: live@solus ~ $ sudo su root@solus /home/live # mkdir /target root@solus /home/live # lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT loop1 7:1 0 5G 1 loop ├─...

Re: Draftsight installation problem

My understanding is that the rpm package manager is meant for building packages and for not installing them. If that's not the case I stand corrected.

Re: How to place Software Center window controls to the left?

On GNOME I see that the applications that use Client Side Decorations (CSD) also keep the titlebar buttons on the right instead of switching them to the left. But in applications without CSD titlebar button placement works.

Which Desktop Environment (DE) do you use? Budgie / Mate / GNOME?

Re: Using Home Banking from Solus

It's not possible to install .deb packages in Solus, because it has its own packaging format: eopkg. If the package cannot be found in the Software Center, ask te developer to supply the program in a snap or flatpack. These formats are distribution agnostic, which means they will run on all Linux di...
