Re: Windows 10 update overrides Linux

Indeed. I was pleasantly surprised at its performance. There are nevertheless a few hics. Still haven't found a way (other than F9) to boot in one or the other system. Also, as it often happens, usb devices do not always "agree" from one OS to the other. The headset for example, is not recognized wh...

Re: Windows 10 update overrides Linux

Update.

Finally found the SSD connected via usb and now have Solus up and runnin' again.
It is basically just as fast as in dual boot with Win 10 :)

Trying to get EasyBCD to show both Solus and Win as options at boot.
Work in progress but no more worries about Windows update overriding Solus! 8-)

Re: Windows 10 update overrides Linux

Have a 120G SSD (not Sandisk) I can hook up to usb3 port.
Will give that a shot and see.
Might not be as fast to boot but who knows!
If it works it might be a most pleasant adventure with Solus! ;)

Re: Windows 10 update overrides Linux

From what I can understand, if I had booted with Solus (with usb or DVD copy - since it would not load nor could Windows 10) and typed in sudo update-grub, then my non-uefi system (MBR with Grub) would have been fixed?

Re: Windows 10 update overrides Linux

Not giving up, i posted similar at MXLinux forums and got this response: If your linux partition would have been still intact and visble from Gparted using a live-boot I'd recommend Rescatux's and/or Super Grub2 Disk from one of the smartest grub2-gurus on this planet https://www.supergrubdisk.org/ ...

Windows 10 update overrides Linux

Even with Grub Customizer installed to set Solus Budgie as secondary OS to boot, Windows 10's latest Spring update wiped something out and i could not fix the MBR.

Is there something i muffed up on or missed out on?

Don't want to run Windows in VM within Linux...

Re: Alternatives to Onenote

Simplenote is pretty good and always most helpful, but something like Joplin might be better (sure has lots of features for an app i've never heard of before!) with graphics support, various platforms etc. Have to find a video on it.

Alternatives to Onenote

This morning, i found out Onenote was not only not syncing anymore with online database but that all notebooks had disappeared!
A hick, a database glitch, a hacker... who knows!

Anyway, can't trust Microsoft anymore and Google Keep?

Hum... what do Solus users go for these days?
