Re: App icon missing on taskbar when running a .AppImage application.

Appimages may not come with their own pre-made desktop launcher.

You may have to create your own .desktop file and save it into $HOME/.local/share/applications. In the .desktop file you can assign an icon to it.

Re: How to add more background images ?

Install variety from the software centre. It's a wallpaper changer. With that, you can add your different folders containing your wallpapers to the pool of backgrounds, without having to move/copy them to a specific single folder. There are lots of settings/options in variety for you to customise ho...

Re: "we'll provide and manage /vmlinuz and /initrd.img symlinks in our own root"

You could try installing grub to the Solus / partition to see if that fixes the problem. Noted. I'll try that over the weekend. Is it just: sudo eopkg it grub or are there other packages to install? ...by choosing to 'not install bootloader' Solus will then do a type 2 installation. That failed for...

Re: "we'll provide and manage /vmlinuz and /initrd.img symlinks in our own root"

How are you booting into Solus if there's no bootloader for it and the other one you are using can't detect it? It should still be utilising grub to setup a grub.cfg, it just doesn't need to be installed on the MBR. The distinction to not having it as a bootloader is that it isn't install on the MB...

Re: "we'll provide and manage /vmlinuz and /initrd.img symlinks in our own root"

You do realise those files are in no way used for boot? Just exist so that grub can understand that it is in fact a linux distribution on the partition (when being scanned from elsewhere). The actual files used for boot are in /boot and will change. The lack of vmlinuz suggests it was an UEFI insta...

Re: "we'll provide and manage /vmlinuz and /initrd.img symlinks in our own root"

It already does...try this and you'll see the symlinks. ls / This allows it to be detected by the other OS grub as stated in the comment. These are not the files that it uses to boot as they are namespaced and need to support multiple kernels (therefore the name cannot be constant). Thank you. No w...

"we'll provide and manage /vmlinuz and /initrd.img symlinks in our own root"

The post below is from another thread, but I realised I shouldn't be hijacking that thread or going off-piste there, so I'm posting this in a fresh thread and will delete my post in that other thread. =========================================================== Frankly Deidomodo "completely broke" hi...
