Re: Notebook: Budgie or Mate?

Mate uses a bit less RAM. so If you have 2GB of RAM, or less, you'll probably have better results with Mate. If your have 4GB, or more, use whichever DE you prefer.

Re: GPG & SHA256 ISO File Verification, for Noobs

At some point this should be put together for the Help Center. Though currently the issue is around how to validate it from windows. My guide is probably a bit too conversational in nature to be considered for inclusion in the Help Center. Please feel free to edit it as you see fit. As I've already...

Re: GPG & SHA256 ISO File Verification, for Noobs

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. GPG can be a bit intimidating, when first coming to grips with it, so I am hopeful that, given an easy to follow guide, folks will take the extra step to verify their download, rather than just hoping for the best. We're a bit distracted here in Southwest Texas at ...

GPG & SHA256 ISO File Verification, for Noobs

I suspect that it is relatively common knowledge that someone can use GPG to encrypt a message with their private key and that message may only be un-encrypted by the recipient, by using the sender’s public key. Re: Overheating processor and graphics card

AFAIK, Solus still does not automatically switch between the integrated GPU and the discreet GPU. If the Nvidia drivers are loaded, the Nvidia card will be working full time.

Re: built in help docs

It's also mentioned on the help center itself so even people who never heard about github can find the link. If you have ideas for improvement, feel free to submit them ! :D Please don't get the wrong impression, I don't think that the team's work is somehow substandard and requires improvement, me...

Re: built in help docs

I mean in a way it's already possible. Because the help-center is just hosted on Github, so at the time of downloading a user could clone that. Users can already contribute with pull requests and the markdown format is quite easy, no technical knowledge required. Thanks very much for clarifying. I ...

Re: built in help docs

Linux Lite does a particularly good job with this and the good news is that we already have a head start: https://solus-project.com/help-center/categories/ If DistroWatch can be believed, Solus is no longer merely a backwater curiosity, so in order to better appeal to the mainstream, a Users Guide o...
