Re: Can't boot into Solus after installing it alongside Windows 10 (UEFI)

Ouch, - have overseen - It is matter of Linux-boot-manager ... it can be that Windows reject Grub as boot-manager or refuse Linux
like this was at Windows XP in earlier years. Best thing is then no dual-boot. Try to install Linux on separated usb-hard-disk alone as Linux.

Re: Can't boot into Solus after installing it alongside Windows 10 (UEFI)

What do you mean ?

You cannot boot into Solus ?

Or is this a matter of correct Login ?

In case of Login - can this be ? - Windows 10 is set to US-keyboard, while your keyboard-settings of Solus were different than US ?

Do I need in Solus then libmcrypt-dev package ? Is it avaliable ? Is this necessary like in Debian ?

Or can I edit and compile directly mcrypt-package without any dependencies ?

Re: Cannot run gnome-terminal under KDE

When you explore a bit, you can find differences explained between GNOME and KDE here : https://www.diffen.com/difference/GNOME_vs_KDE There you can see, that GNOME is using GTK+ and KDE is using QT - as toolkits. This is why you cannot make a dog out of a cat. Gnome-Terminal would need GTK+ and KDE...

Re: Cannot run gnome-terminal under KDE

Nobody up to today has tried to mix Gnome with KDE to create a "Wollmilchsau" ... (engl. = "wool-milk-sow") ...

In KDE name of terminal is konsole or console and it is the own created terminal of KDE and konsole is fixed to KDE - not Gnome-terminal ...

Re: how to edit libcrypt ?

Hello Kyrios, sorry, that I am sometimes still "noobish" with how to treat Solus and its packages. But I need an example for following ... It is that I am used a too long time to Ubuntu and to Debian. For to improve command mcrypt - I would have to do this in Debian : fetching libmcrypt package, mcr...

Re: Convert .deb to eopkg using Foreign Package Installer

Hello Kyrios, is it in meantime finish ? This post is from one year ago. I would like to use Foreign Package Installer for to adopt some Debian packages. The thing is, that e.g. mcrypt 2.6.8 at sf.net is not complete and Debian has mcrypt 2.6.8.1.3 which than is complete as package. Would be great, ...

Re: Internet Banking Module Ports

Hmmm - I would do banking on a seperated partition with different username.

There is a complete distro for this - its name is "moneypenny" - but it is descending from Ubuntu.

It seems at moment to be the best distro for anything related banking.

Re: password size with up to 1 GB

It seems that new gcc is somehow not working entirely yet ?! I have changed the files of mcrypt 2.6.8 only slightly (some numbers as sizes). But compiling with ./configure - make check - make - and make install is prevented by ./configure with some errors ... due to gcc ?! Apparently gcc cannot crea...
