Re: Installing to < 10 GB drive

If you can get a small portable SSD (like the SanDisk Ultra 500). https://www.sandisk.com/home/ssd/extreme-500-ssd , it's much better (& safer) than sharing an internal disk for dual-booting So, on the smaller version (120 GB) . . . there is plenty of room for the SSD & bootloader. When plugged in, ...

Re: Solus dualboot with Windows 10

Can you start Windows from the uefi boot manager? Usually a FN key like F12 will bring up the boot options window. But you may have to look at the BIOS/UEFI instructions for your machine if F12 does not work.

Re: Do Linux without bricking your hardware! Guidlines?

Well, I learned a long time ago if one wants a truly smooth, troublefree environment for running (or testing) Linux, do one of these things: * Buy a PC with Linux already installed . . . now there are at least 50 vendors worldwide to choose from. No surprises, the testing and engineering has already...

Re: Samsung printer

Is it possible the user double-clicked the driver file instead of running the script? That's what it looks like to me without actually making the file executable. The file should be checked to see if executable (can run a properties view from the file manager). If not executable, run from the Termin...

Re: HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer series

The scanner will work without hplip printer manager if usb connected. . . OR . . . if you use the printer control window to scan to attached usb flash-stick. Also, you can use your browser to install Google Cloud Print as an additional print option . . . and don't forget "localhost:631" to use CUPS ...

Re: Touchpad Not Working At All?

What worked for my on my Acer Travelmate B117 was to: > enable the touchpad with Fn + F7 key (for this machine). That had absolutely zero effect initially until I rebooted, and then the system could "see" the touchpad and that it was in an up status (because it was reading from the "last state" log)...

Re: HP Laptop - Intel/Nvida Solus 3 Install?

Sunnyflunk . . . is it possible to add a kernel boot parameter like "nomodeset" on Solus to allow for installs of proprietary drivers? I know distros that by default use grub allow for that, but does Solus with it's unique boot loader (Clear Boot Manager) provide a similar option as a workaround?

Re: Application request

I believe the plan is to have snaps (and perhaps flatpaks and AppImages) in the official Solus software repo.

Re: I need a driver for Epsen wf-2630

How is the printer connected to the laptop? For first time driver installs, I've had best results for the initial printer setup , to connect via usb and not rely on wireless recognition as the default. Regarding CUPS, those are not printers you're looking at. Those are protocols and install options....

Re: Need help for a particular installation in Dual Boot

If you still have or can get a clean USB Flash-Stick of either 4 or 8 Gigs, then you should start fresh. Just place the downloaded iso into an empty folder in your /home or Windows download folder. Then download the "Etcher" program and install it. Etcher is the easiest to use program for creating b...
