Re: CraveTV

For the "Free" trial . . . is any credit card registration required? In other words, if you don't want to be charged, do you have to opt-out via their website or via an email . . ? BTW, am assuming you've turned off all ad-blockers. Regarding where to add the customization text . . . did you open th...

Re: CraveTV

Just click on the magnify glass from a Nautilus (files) window and enter the name of the file - - you'll get a bunch of hits rapidly. Am not at my Solus laptop now, but in Ubuntu it's in: 'usr/share/x11 . . . . Then, if you don't already know, learn the text editor "Nano" . . . can find tutorials on...

Re: Acer Aspire 1 (A114-31-C4HH)

Here's what I did on an Acer Travelmate B117, with no other OS's planned for it but the Solus Distro. 1). Use "Etcher" to convert the iso file to a bootable usb system (https://etcher.io/) 2). Boot back into Firmware setup (usually F2 on Acers) 3). If not already done, register a "Supervisors Passwo...

Re: Strange issues with wifi

It seems to me that if a larger percentage of Linux Users were to support Linux friendly hardware, then, there would be better support from chipset makers - - even a few hundred extra customers per year matter to a small company like Panda. With at least 40 million Linux Desktop users globally, that...

Re: Fresh Install with btrfs?

This past August, . . . RedHat deprecated btrfs and will no longer support it (or plan to reintroduce it) for their business class customers - - Suse reaffirmed support, but is currently the only enterprise Linux to do so. However, only a marginal percent of customers choose it.

Re: Battery life in Solus

Always best to post full laptop specs, so answers posted here are not just best guesses . . . . Please input "inxi -Fx" in a terminal and post results. Also, buying a laptop pre-installed and tested with Linux is the BEST (by far) solution. Unfortunately, most folks aren't aware of this and then try...

Re: Can Solus be run via USB device?

I suspect this older laptop may only be bios/mbr. One check you can do is type this in a terminal . . . sudo efibootmgr . . . if not uefi, you will see something like "efi variables not supported . . . " So, as a final option, here's a link to a PCLinuxOS forum thread that may be helpful: http://www...

Re: Can Solus be run via USB device?

If your PC (what brand, model, specs) is newer than about 2010, then, there is no "finding UEFI" . . . any firmware screen is already UEFI (not BIOS). So you have to find (usually in the "Boot" tab) where to enable Legacy/CSM mode. The OEM owners or service manual would give more info. Successfully ...

Re: Can Solus be run via USB device?

Did you enable CSM/Legacy mode in UEFI and disable Secure Boot?

note: typically, enabling CSM mode will option 3 or 4 other boot options for you to select - - read and choose carefully.
