Re: BT mouse issue

Yes, I fully agree that Logitech is the goto brand for Linux enthusiasts. Many years ago when MS started intentionally limiting it branded peripherals to work only on MS-Windows - - Logitech made a decision to work on all OS platforms. Further, bluetooth is not nearly as reliable as radio wave wirel...

Re: Have questions about Snap; might like to try

Just to supplement Sunnyflunk's post a bit: > *There is little to no code security for these packages you install from snap since I'm unlcear who "polices" snap apps. The developer/team OR the program maintainer/s (not always the same person/team) is responsible to govern the app and then bug/securi...

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 320 - Touchpad not working

If the laptop has a key combination (like Fn+F7) to toggle (enable) the touchpad . . . do that and then immediately reboot the computer. Log back in and then try the touchpad. That's essentially what I did with an Acer B117 Travelmate. If I toggle the touchpad off, and don't remember to re-enable it...

Re: no USB boot option

Regarding stability and speed of installing any Linux distro on usb flash-sticks OR usb-ssd drives . . . the device needs at least to be usb version 3 . . . not 2. In fact, my favorite way to install Solus (or any of the top 20 or so distros) is to an external usbv3 SSD . No speed degradation at all...

Re: Wi-Fi is not working / no connection

Also, if the laptop is worth keeping, then it seems it's worth spending from $10 to $25 on a Linux friendly nano sized usb adapter. The devices from Panda are very good - - just plug & play. http://www.pandawireless.com/ So, the last time I checked the Panda Ultra b/g/n nano dongle was about 12 usd....

Re: Trying another desktop environment

Typically in Linux, the user just logs out and starts a new login session, and on that login screen, there should be a drop-down menu to select the DE. I don't personally use that method as I dislike the overhead of updating multiple installed DE's. So, if I like another DE per a test of a live usb-...

Re: no USB boot option

Perhaps skipik thinks that creating a bootable usb flash-stick that successfully boots up a Solus session, is the same as installing Solus. If that is the understanding, it is incorrect. A properly and fully installed Solus does not need a USB flash-stick plugged in at all. The Solus image is instal...

Re: Getting my wireless WIFI to work!

This card has been supported in Linux for a long time via the ath9k driver, which is pre-loaded to the kernel since about 2011. I assume you're trying after a restart and with the wireless with wired disconnected. What was the error message?? Did you see any wireless networks when clicking the Netwo...

Re: Laptop graphics card and video playback problems

I would suggest to try Solus Gnome edition. I've read the Gnome3 Desktop handles & eliminates video issues such as you have described.
