How to update to signed repo

Sun Oct 19, 2014 10:32 pm

For me the steps were a little different. This is what worked for me.

Remove the old repo as it no longer works.

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg remove-repo "EvolveOS"
Setup the new repo so we can meet the deps for gnupg.

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg add-repo main http://packages.evolve-os.com/eopkg-index.xml.xz
Make sure gnupg is installed.

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg install http://packages.evolve-os.com/g/gnupg/gnupg-2.0.24-4-1-x86_64.eopkg
Download and import the repo signature.

Code: Select all

wget https://evolve-os.com/repo.gpg && sudo gpg --import repo.gpg
This has worked on two of my systems so far without incident.

Hi Gryman.. :)

I had done (earlier) all but your last step

Code: Select all

wget https://evolve-os.com/repo.gpg && sudo gpg --import repo.gpg
and it appears to be working for me.

Code: Select all

gene@evolve ~
$ sudo pisi up
Password:
Updating repositories
Updating repository: main
eopkg-index.xml.xz.sha1sum     (40.0  B)100%    357.73 KB/s [00:00:00] [complete]
main repository information is up-to-date.
No packages to upgrade.

=================

EDIT:
Nevermind.... :oops: I had done them all, but in the order Ikey posted... ;)

For some reason the order that Ikey had didn't work for me. Also my repo name was different. Again, not sure why...

As stated in the blog post edit you're all ok for now, just need to update your installs and have gnupg installed.
I will find a way to get the signature in as a base package, which should remove most manual works. For now
the repository remains unsigned (this week)

The idea is simply improving security by mitigating the chance for a man in the middle attack
