Thx for the help. I had some trouble in downloading the http://www.privateinternetaccess.com/op ... penvpn.zip file from the address you gave. Kept giving me errors. So I went to the site and downloaded into a folder I made in Downloads folder. Then went to that directory in terminal and unzipped it. Also I followed the instructions on taking off the 1198 from the gateway but it wouldnt connect. So I tried with it still present and it connected. Why have no idea. Which for me everything has to be a chore. :D

Are you having this problem or are you asking if it still exists?? If you read the very next post, it says that it was resolved, and then confirmed by others.

thx dukelukem; i followed instructions and connects without any issue to PIA; however, their appears to be something blocking the port i've experienced this in the past however with the PIA app was able to change the port from UCP to TCP and use port 443 and it works fine.

A bug perhaps i'm hoping they get it working but have moved back to Peppermint Linux in the interim which everything works even my laser network printer

Please use the fixed script in the reply below.
These instructions were done up when the download pages the script points too were down.

You can also use the install script that was created by PIA VPN for OpenVPN users.

Download the script:

Code: Select all

wget https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/installer/pia-nm.sh
Unfortunately, this script has one issue in Solus... it's unable to download configuration files as configured.
To get around that do the following.

Create an OpenVPN folder:

Code: Select all

sudo mkdir /etc/openvpn

Download your choice of OpenVPN configuration files from PIA VPN (explanations of each have a link):

Unzip your chosen configuration file to /etc/openvpn

Code: Select all

sudo unzip openvpn*.zip -d /etc/openvpn

Now run the script (answers need to match your chosen script):

Code: Select all

sudo ./pia-nm.sh

All of PIA VPN's servers should now be listed in Network Manager under VPN Connections.

Edited the PIA script to support Solus (removed all other OS options):

Code: Select all

 wget -O pia-nm.sh https://hasteb.in/raw/tupijageni && sudo sh ./pia-nm.sh
Full code: at the URL: https://hasteb.in/raw/tupijageni

Thank you for the updated script!

BTW...You can leave out the following line. These programs look to be installed with Solus by default.

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg install -y networkmanager-openvpn curl
