How to install megasync client

Wed Sep 23, 2015 11:40 am

Sorry for my English, I used google translation.

Install Megasync on SolusOS

- Download c-ares at: http://c-ares.haxx.se/download/c-ares-1.10.0.tar.gz
- Unzip the archive and open a terminal in the resulting folder
- sudo ./configure && make && sudo make install
- Reboot

- In a terminal sudo pisi it qt4-devel

- Download megasync at: https://mega.nz/linux/MEGAsync/xUbuntu_ ... _amd64.deb

- Unzip the archive
- In a terminal: sudo cp -r /folder/megasync/usr/bin /usr/bin && sudo cp -r /folder/megasync/usr/share /usr/share

P.S. : There are people more talented than me so I invited them to make much needed improvements.

Please, use eopkg instead of pisi, we are in Solus, not on Pisi Linux.. For some reason the devs forked the pisi package manager... :mrgreen:
And I recommend to you open a package request on https://dev.solus-project.com/

Isn't pisi the exact same as eopkg?

Yes but eopkg is the preferred use. Either way they'll both be replaced by Sol in time :)

When it's done and tested, no release date. There is other work to be done (optimus, budgie and maybe others) prior to working on sol.

I just installed Solus as my main OS and the addition of MEGAsync would be very appreciated by me. I have contacted MEGA about offering a snap or flatpak but they don't have any real plan for it at the moment.

I've stumbled across a guide for building MEGASync from source and updated it, works fine for my setup.
