Hi Guys,

Could someone guide me through adding an L2TP VPN into the network manager?

Thanks

I don't imagine any has a L2TP VPN, so it makes it pretty hard to set one up...are there any packages you would be expecting in the repo?

I am also interested in L2TP VPN support. I thought the Legacy vpnc client might have support but it didn't work. Found "Werner Jaeger's" l2tp-ipsec-vpn GUI as a possible solution but it isn't available in the Software Center. Maybe we can put in a request to add it. Any package requests can be made as per the guide here: https://solus-project.com/articles/pack ... ackage/en/

Is there any alternative to not having any l2tp package included in Solus? Can we build one ourselves?

I've looked at xl2tpd, but it doesn't have any instructions on how to build it. I also checked openl2tpd, which has some instructions on how to build, but doesn't create the required kernel modules (pppol2tp). Lastly, I managed to build strongswan (which handles IPsec connections), but I couldn't build the network-manager applet for strongswan (https://wiki.strongswan.org/projects/st ... orkManager) because of a missing library (libnma.so)

What I ended up doing was to create an Ubuntu VM that has network-manager-l2tp installed and connect to my office network from my VM. But this is inefficient at the least and very difficult to use. If i could somehow configure my host to send all vpn traffic through the VM, then that might work until there's official support in Solus, but I didn't find a way of doing that.

So, what other options do we have? I would really like to use Solus, but at this time, I really need an L2TP VPN connection so I can work remotely. Any thoughts?

Anymore news on this? I'm really looking for a way of getting L2TP running.
