Installing VMWare Player in Solus

Fri Aug 18, 2017 6:02 pm

Hey All.

Normally when installing VMWare Player, you would have to run teh following command

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg it -c system.devel
However is there a minimal set of components I can install without having to install the entire load of Devel apps?

Would appreciate some advise here

Thanks

You'd need to try installing VMWare Player without system.devel installed and then work out each part that's required, you can see the list of what's in system.devel by using:

Code: Select all

eopkg la -c system.devel

Hi There,

Could you perhaps give advice why after restarting my system and wanting to run VMPlayer I always have to run the following in CLI

Code: Select all

sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all
Sometimes after a kernel update, then when running the VMPlayer it will execute the same command via the GUI interface. However any other restasrt and I have to run this via CLI.

Is there anything I can do that will resolve having to run this command?
