I suggest you grab a stopwatch (or phone) and test the time it takes to load from when you select your kernel in grub, to the display manager loading. I doubt it will be 9s.
Yes its just 3-4 sec so you are right. Thanks for the info

Laptop -» Thinkpad X230
HDD -» SSD OCZ 240Gb
RAM -» 8Gb

@subz3r0  systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 4.312s (firmware) + 162ms (loader) + 623ms (kernel) + 1.523s (initrd) + 3.583s (userspace) = 10.205s

It was better, but with the last two kernel updates it stayed like this and shutdown process also got more delayed.

Startup finished in 1.172s (kernel) + 5.635s (initrd) + 7.588s (userspace) = 14.396s

This seems to be a lot better than some others :D :D

Code: Select all

Startup finished in 716ms (kernel) + 786ms (initrd) + 1.432s (userspace) = 2.935s

Fresh install (using Budgie) on a brand new SSD, the only thing I did was apply all available updates. Very impressive! :)

Edit: on my next boot (after installing the proprietary NVIDIA drivers), I got:

Code: Select all

Startup finished in 716ms (kernel) + 787ms (initrd) + 1.180s (userspace) = 2.684s

That's pretty incredible!

I think my poor little netbook has the slowest boot time of all here

Code: Select all

$ systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 4.281s (firmware) + 370ms (loader) + 2.494s (kernel) + 4.098s (initrd) + 22.969s (userspace) = 34.215s
Yesterday it was

Code: Select all

$ systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 4.235s (firmware) + 371ms (loader) + 2.496s (kernel) + 3.948s (initrd) + 28.758s (userspace) = 39.809s
Ran

Code: Select all

$ ls -al /var/log/journal/*
total 1393200

$ sudo journalctl --disk-usage
Archived and active journals take up 1.3G in the file system.

$ du -sh /var/log/journal
1.4G	/var/log/journal
Reduced journal size and it's 4 seconds faster :lol:
