Re: What do you use Solus for?

Well, I'm an admin for an LMS and instructional designer by day so I use MacOS and Windows at work. I don't really have a beef with either, in fact I've been a Mac user for 20+ years and its still the go to for my photography. I built up my little Linux laptop specifically as a tool for my writing. I prefer using a text editor and MD for most of my writing and I'm working on a book. I am really happy with Solus and hoping to set up my laptop setup as lean an mean writing machine.

I use it for the standard web browsing/email/netflix/fubotv/music stuff. I am also a mathematics teacher, so I use Atom to write/compile LaTex documents, Gedit for webpages, and GeoGebra for making graphs for course notes. I use the GeoGebra portable, which is not ideal - wish it was in the repo - the flatpak rarely works well, so hoping a snap is in the future. Cheers!

Mainly uni stuff: browser, email, rss (Feedreader - thx for having it in the repo!), R (Rstudio - few problems, but solved it on the forum), and LaTeX. From time to time I am also playing some pc games :D. Civ 5 & EU IV especially

1. Web Development.
2. Browsing the internet.
3. Read Novel.
4. Chats.
5. Learn anything related to network, web technologies, and linux.
6. Secondary OS if Windows fails xD.

But why ? why Solus ?

Ubuntu and it's derivatives are mostly unable to help me to forget that good old day of being an openSuse fans where for some reason, Solus does.

Pretty much everything i was doing on Windows - browsing, watching youtube videos, listening to music, and since kernel 4.15 update, solus defaulted my graphic driver form radeonsi to amdgpu which resulted in amazing gaming performance,so i don't need to even go to windows anymore. Another thing i like Solus for is that in Windows,4k videos on youtube are laggy, for some reason here they are smooth! Good job, greatest distribution of Linux i've tried in my life!

Software development (mainly ECMA6 currently) bit of 3D graphics (Blender!) and usual music/video bs.
*Nothing* to complain. I use Gnome edition and it's just perfect OS for my needs!

I've been off of Windows for a month now. Smoothest transition ever. I'm a university student, so I use Solus for pretty much everything: netflix, word processing, books, maple, etc.
Win10 64-bit
Solus 3 64-bit

My computer is not the newest one. It’s a desktop.
I’m rather regular user and computer serves me mainly for fun.
Basically I use it for web browsing, office applications, listening to the music, photos and videos.
I like ‘good’ looking DE, fast boot and shut down times. However as I am on SSD most of distros are ‘fast’ enough for me.
