Re: What a laptop should i buy?

I just installed Solus on my Thinkpad T420, which I have had for about a year and everything is running smoothly, so far. I've also installed Mageia & Debian on it and no problems from any of them. They all are working good with the HW. I haven't played around with Solus yet, since I put it on Tuesday.

If you want decent linux hardware support you get a latitude from dell. I have had okay support with a few HP laptops but i've been using latitude laptops since i switched to linux. (2004)

My current laptop is one of these

There are also preinstalled ubuntu if you're in the select countries that dell allows it.

The T420 with an SSD and 8 gig of ram will run smooth for a couple of years.
You literally can't go wrong with this type of laptop.

Enjoy :)

I have just visited the dell ideastorm website and submitted an idea: Solus OS (linux) on Dell laptops.

Dell should sell laptops with Solus OS pre-installed and optimised.

Fellas and fellinas, please join Dell's ideastorm and support the idea so that Dell realises that X is far better than Y

Merit should be recognised and rewarded!!

Dell Latitude would be my choice if it wasn't for the horrible coil whine. I'm using ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

I highly recommend https://slimbook.es/en/ I bought mine with Manjaro preinstalled (then I changed to Solus) and it's running really smoothly.

And their customer service is a plus, always resolutive.
