I'm buying a new gaming laptop, the budget up to $1500. Which do you recommend?

I have a MSI and works nice, but optimus status in linux is a pain in the ass, bumblebee it¡s ok and all but have a poor performance compared to windows

Dualboot windows for gaming and Linux for everything else

I never understood the draw of a "gaming laptop" If I'm going to game I want to do it awesomely with a decent size monitor, real speakers and no worrying about performance. Laptops to me are content consumption devices like movies/music and work on the go.

Recent laptops offers very decent gaming performances (i.e: mobile Pascal GPU offers equivalent perfs as de desktop ones ) and if you use something like steam link, you can play on your TV.

I don't have a desktop computer anymore and I find most gaming laptops are really ugly (personal taste). Still I wanted a computer that allows me to play from time to time. My main criteria were the build quality, linux friendly and a good screen (most laptop screens are awful).
I opted for a Dell XPS 15 (9560) FHD (I didn't want the 4K model because it's glossy, there are still some issues with hdpi, it decreases battery life and most games wouldn't run smoothly in such a high resolution with a nvidia 1050 GTX).
The only negative thing about this machine (in my opinion) is the keyboard. It's well build and nice to use but I had a hard time to get used working without a numeric pad, the enter key is too small and the arrows are half-sized keys.

I guess my experience was tainted from many years ago when buying a "gaming laptop". On power with all power saver settings turned off it still played games like a damp cloth. Good to hear they've improved.

What? How does that work? There's hundreds of users on the forums that only have one post. They didn't link to any website, mention any brands or try to sell me pharmaceuticals...

Likely was, I tend to give benefit of the doubt. Given no participation, I've removed the link.
