Re: How to install SSTP Client from source.

@Justin

I followed your instructions and have installed sstp client and sstp network manager.
A massive task just to install these files. As I put in a request for a package to be included it would be good if it happened.
Would certainly be much simpler without loading a ton of files just to build them. The build process went without a problem. :D

However I will need some help in diagnosing a problem with connecting to the vpn via sstp.Failed to initialize a plugin instance: Connection ":1.86" is not allowed to own the service

I copied all the settings that I use on mint for the connections but it won't connect. I checked all the settings 3 times.
This is what I get from the Journal.

Aug 15 20:11:41 solus NetworkManager[550]: <info> [1502791901.7159] audit: op="connection-activate" uuid="21465287-9555-484c-a23a-b64ccd0e1c4d" name="Hide.me SSTP AU Melbourne" pid=969 uid=1000 result="success"
Aug 15 20:11:41 solus NetworkManager[550]: <info> [1502791901.7552] vpn-connection[0xc26110,21465287-9555-484c-a23a-b64ccd0e1c4d,"Hide.me SSTP AU Melbourne",0]: Started the VPN service, PID 1110
Aug 15 20:11:41 solus nm-sstp-service[1110]: Failed to initialize a plugin instance: Connection ":1.86" is not allowed to own the service "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.sstp.Connection_1" due to security policies in the configuration file
Aug 15 20:11:46 solus NetworkManager[550]: <warn> [1502791906.6617] vpn-connection[0xc26110,21465287-9555-484c-a23a-b64ccd0e1c4d,"Hide.me SSTP AU Melbourne",0]: Timed out waiting for the service to start

The relevant details as I understand it is: "due to security policies in the configuration file"

If anybody has a clue where I would find the said configuration file and how to rectify the permission issues it would be greatly appreciated. :)

EDIT:
Found this in /usr/etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-sstp-service.conf :idea:

<!DOCTYPE busconfig PUBLIC

<allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.sstp"/>
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.sstp.ppp"/>
</policy>
<policy context="default">

Beyond compiling it I don't think I can really provide much further assistance as I don't use SSTP personally. I'd suggest maybe lodging an issue with the above information with the authors off sstp to see if they have a solution for it.

Thanks for you reply Justin.
The only thing I think I may be able to do is to compare config files to Mint to see if there is a difference.

If anyone else has any idea how to troubleshoot this issue I would appreciate any input. :idea:

Edit: Just tried using nm-sstp.service.conf copied from mint but that didn't work.
Don't really know where else to look for permission issues. :(

I finally got SSTP to install on Solus.
This is the post where I explain how it is achieved.
