Run PlayOnLinux on AMD dedicated graphics

Mon Dec 18, 2017 12:53 am

I'm trying to a run a few Windows programs with PlayOnLinux (unfortunately, I have to because of work :( ), and a problem I have is that I'm not able to run them on my dedicated GPU. I have switchable Intel + Radeon graphics, and I'm using the radeontop applet to monitor my dedicated card's activity.

With the help of @Justin, I was able to run Steam with this GPU by launching it with "DRI_PRIME=1 steam" (viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10412&p=32712).

Now when I run "DRI_PRIME=1 playonlinux", the program doesn't seem to use the dedicated card unfortunately. Could anyone please help me with this issue?

Hi

I guess running playonlinux with dGPU is not exactly what you need, instead you probably want to run the game/program you installed using playonlinux on your dedicated GPU.

Just speculating, but maybe this works.
You can open the "yourgame.desktop" file (probably located on your desktop) and prepend

Code: Select all

env DRI_PRIME=1
in the line starting with "Exec".
