VirtualBox 64bits

Fri Jan 05, 2018 10:51 pm

Hello guys

When I installed virtualbox

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg install virtualbox
This version above allowed to create virtual machine 32 bits and 64 bit.

Now when I installed this version below,

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg install virtualbox-current
only allows to create 32 bit virtual machines ..

Image

Was there any solution?

Thanks.

Have you installed Virtualbox in a virtual machine ?
Err... you should only install the virtualbox package that corresponds to your kernel --> see here

I'm on current and I have 64-bit...
We should dig this to find out what's wrong...

As BradHeff said this is a BIOS issue, I've had it before myself.

Thanks for the personal tip, it really was just the BIOS.

First of all you need to check if your processor supports virtualization:

Code: Select all

cat /proc/cpuinfo
Intel: VMX
AMD: SVM

As we can see above, now only activate the feature in the BIOS.

I marked it as "Enabled," and that's it. :D
