[Solved] Auto delete trash?

Sun Feb 04, 2018 4:27 pm

Hi.

On Debian, there's a package called 'trash-cli' that I use to auto delete trash from the trashcan that's over 1 day old. How can I do this in Solus MATE?

Code: Select all

trash-empty 1
Cheers.

These packages all work in Linux. Solus is Linux so install trash-cli.

Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/andreafrancia/trash-cli.git

cd trash-cli

sudo python setup.py install

If you don't have git then install that before hand.

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg it git

Just remember any Linux software will work in any Linux. While using Solus, you might have to build a few packages from source because it's not in the Solus repositories. Just because it can't be found in Solus, doesn't mean Solus can't run those packages. I been using Linux for over 14 years. So I have learned a thing or two.

Your Welcome.

Would trash-cli (and all software) being installed via github in the above method get automatic updates when I run 'sudo eopkg upgrade'?

Anything that didn't come out of the repository. I would say you have to up date those individually. I'm sure there are exceptions. Just can't think of any at this moment.

Only things installed direct from the repository get automatically updated with "eopkg up", unless the developer built in their own update mechanism.

How would I update them?

So that could be a potential security risk then? Especially if you had multiple software installed from github.

Depends if you trust your sources.
