Can you exclude folders/files?
Clonzilla is far to difficult to make a video of, to much explaining.

qt4-fsarichiver is OK, simple to make a video, in fact I;d like to make a video with you using teamviewer and I'll record the session.

What I'd really like to do is record the audio in mumble.

I live in sheltered accommodation and shortly I expect to have 4 tennants getting broadband from here http://www.gn.apc.org/services/adsl

I can link all the routers and get x4 the bandwidth up and down.

I want to put a server in my place, maybe 2 then.

I'm going to install a zenfaro forum then http://xenforo.com/

I'm very,very, very interested in this http://ask.slashdot.org/story/14/08/03/ ... imers-home
I'm trying to find a bulletproof near zero maintenance video conferencing client for shared use in an Alzheimers living facility. It's used so the patients can regularly see their relatives who are often out of town
I'm thinking of mumble and jitsi in my community.

Need a qnext built, they went public recently, I've been watching for many years as they developed the java beta, beta was free I've still got the beta program installed in my windows 7, wonder if it still works. Very low numeric ID member number

I'd like skilled page designers to have a look at the easily installed addons, it's like firefox, who runs fx with out addons?

I'd like to donate free forum/storage space to the EvolveOS team if The Masters happy.

What do the knowledgeable ones think of https://ipredator.se/?

Good value and a good cause.

I keep editing this post until you get "The End"

I'm uploading a 1.9 GB video to youtube, it's a bit slow getting there. :D

And I'd have 4 static IP's

The 1.9 GB video i'm uploading be interesting to see whether the audio video get out of sync.

I'm very impressed with Vokoscreen, thank you groni for the tip :D

I'd love to have a noise filter in it, drooling big time.

I would be using MX-14 as the host on my desktop but vokoscreen don't run on it that's why I'm using SolydK 14-05 not updated with xfce installed. Vokoscreen is an essential like Josep Del Rio's Speed Dial

I want to offer my members a free web or blog page
1 GB storage
Membership of ipredator
Video's to show infants how to use the tools
Server hosting to SMB and admin for a donation
All members have a subforum on my forum that they moderate.

I want to create a html game that a 6 yo can play to do an automatic install of reglue, the installer must be written for a child to play a game and then produce other profiles to install, alongside windows, shrink windows etc

I got alarmed when I read "Afk :)"

Another reason I can't use MX for my host it's 32 bit I want to install 64 bit in virtualbox, make a good rescue OS.

install git and then open a terminal in a directory of your choice and run this command:
git clone https://github.com/SalineOS/SalineOS.git
Thanks for that Brian - am using it now - impressed!

I done 2 videos last night, one goes through FX profiles and the rudiments of Josep Del Rio's Speed Dial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRK4azPq0p8I've not played it through though.

Caution you might encounter a few feckings, sorry folks, I could go in and bleep them but their only practice runs, I need a pupil teacher thing rather than just me lecturing hence my need for a mumble server

If you think it will help folk could you make a post some where describing it as I hate, hate, hate using quills, so dated in the age of video.

It's 38 minutes long so i'm curious if the audio video lose sync.

The other one is still being processed, 52% done 85 minutes remaining.
I'll post a link when it's done.

I think I might take up farming

I've compressed the video with xz down from 1.9GB to 536 NB and it's uploading to dropbox I'll post a link when it's up, dropbox says another hour but remind me with a PM please.

But I also directed a frigate across the channel

When my server is up and running I want good stats off maybe 2-3 different open source thingies, any recommendations which ones to use?

I was wondering if something like this would be handy?

I'm interested in low power consumption and quiet running in my bedsit.

I'd like to push one of those.

I've have a TS-110 for a few years

I want to run a torrent seed and mumble

Alternately something with an atom cpu?

I had a response from my earlier post on solydxk forum http://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php ... =80#p42477

Unfortunately Evolve OS uses neither. Our ISO uses dmsquash-live via dracut, and we use an ext2 image inside a squashfs located at /LiveOS/ on the live media
dmsquash...dracut....gentoo inspired? Nice! I like it more already!

Creating a live image of the installed system can be tricky. But it is always possible. The way I originally did custom debian live images was actually crating a squash of my system, then tearing apart an official debian live image and replacing the squash file inside with my squash file. It wasn't pretty but it worked. Then I graduated to extracting the parts I needed from a debian live image and creating a new iso from those parts and my squash file. Then I finally figured out what parts were critical (very few actually) and how to recreate those and then roll that up with my squash file.

So most likely, if nothing else, someone could hack the live image you provide and replace the filesystem with their custom filesystem and badaboom have a custom live image.

----------------

As far as a complete clone backup tool, as long as there is some way, even as basic as tar/gzip, to archive and extract a archive then you have the tools needed for a backup. Besides that it is just a matter of excluding the right things and tweaking the things that need it. Yea I am captain obvious. LOL

Of course to clone one parititon to another partition all you really need is rsync and yet again the right excludes and the right tweaks. Unfortunately those excludes and tweaks seem to change a lot, especially in debian. Fortunately they both seem to get less and less as things become more dynamic rather than static.

point at any Debian OS on your machine to backup/clone
A partition to partition clone would be very easy to do. A simple rsync with proper excludes and then some tweaks to adjust everything to that partition. Those tweaks seem to get fewer and fewer as times change. I suspect systemd may eliminate any (or at least most) tweaks needed and I am hoping that it simplifies the excludes too.

Heck the thing that makes most tools seem complex and hard to understand is the error checking, validation, and other bells and whistles. I suck at those, so my scripts remain simple....and the user better beware using them...
:D

And because my scripts remain so crude they are really more for personal use than a new distro creation tool. The last thing we need is more respins calling themselves distros.

Thanks for the welcome.

It looks like my very first post was off topic, sadly I suspect I will not improve in that regard. :(
