Updates - headsup!

Tue Mar 03, 2015 5:04 am

OK - we're now going ahead with throwing lots of shiny updates through and there can be hiccups along the way!

Remember - I'm trying my best to not *completely* brick installs, but some issues can arise.

We're now flying with GCC 4.9.2 by default, thus our kernel is rebuilt using GCC, libgcc is updated, etc..
3.19.0 kernel has been pushed through..

If you cannot boot (and still see 3.18.5 in GRUB) - Then press 'e' at boot to edit the default Evolve OS entry,
and just swap "3.18.5" for "3.19.0" and continue to boot. Once booted up, issue "sudo update-grub"

NVIDIA Users (Proprietary driver)

You WILL have problems. First, get the new nvidia 346.47 ! Older drivers will NOT BUILD. Apply
updates first, and then reinstall new graphics driver

Those building packages..
evobuild is being updated later today, and ypkg will enter the repos. Ensure from now on for native
Evolve OS builds you *only* use /usr/lib64 in your packages. Also try to ensure all of your packages
build first with clang - but note that C++ packages will be broken for a day or 2 until we fix a libstdc++
devel issue. We're now using Clang/LLVM 3.5

A flood of updates will be coming through this week, and honestly the only real way to avoid breakage
here is to continuously update!
