Budgie & Raven Applets Development

Are you creating a Budgie or Raven applet or thinking of doing one? Please add a comment on here with your project or link to existing github/codebase if you've started so I can update it. https://goo.gl/CxQfgr

Come to think of it How do you create a Budgie Applet? In my i3wm config I had a brightness indicator and a volume indicator which I could use to adjust based on mouse wheel movement? Is there some kind of spec/language to use?
I want to try to create some applets like this,

In the baron space under Calendar, output/inputs when opening raven, I t would be great to have applets for harddisk, memory and network activity. Graph view much like System Monitor/Resources.

Another option I don't seem to see, is to be able to pin open raven.

Raven isn't designed to stay open, it's a notifications/applet quicklook bar that is supposed to get out of your way when not needed. I think you're looking for something like Conky that can display stats on the desktop instead.

I tried building the c example but I got this error on configure,

Code: Select all

checking for BUDGIE_PLUGIN... no
configure: error: Package requirements (budgie-1.0 >= 1
) were not met:

No package 'budgie-1.0' found
What package is this? Couldn't find it.

Install budgie-desktop-devel (the -devel pkgs include the headers and pkg-configs that you need for building against).

Also if you haven't yet, also install the system development components with

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg install -c system.devel

I got it working after I installed the vala package also. Anyways after I compiled the code. I needed to restart the system to get the plugin listed. Seems a bit dangerous though coz now I can't seem to remove the c_project plugin after I added it. And it seems to crash the panel and restart it if I try to remove it.

The panel needs to be restarted to show new applets rather than a full restart

Code: Select all

budgie-panel --replace &
Ctrl+D
To reset the panel to default configuration

Code: Select all

dconf reset -f /com/solus-project/budgie-panel/
