Just finished watching the Unity 8 video on youtube: Ubuntu 17.04 Unity 8 - current state
At the very end of the video there is a window sliding in from the right like Raven
Somehow it's strange to see that the "newer" influential Desktop Environments right now use Qt and have a Desktop Child Window sliding in from the side:
First was the Deepin Desktop Environment, then Budgie, and now Unity 8.
It's just a bummer that all 3 seem to "find" a similar path but everyone does their own thing.
BTW: not talking about the underlying OS. We all know nothing beats Solus
