Read the article a while back with much of interest. It's great to see such transparency and announcing things in advance.
I'm happy to see flatpak support.
As for Qt - heck, if you can make (and I believe you can :) ) it as smooth and nice as current gtk implementation I'm all in. Even though I'm a tad worried as I think it will require new file manager, color calibration, wacom settings and other apps - so that all mounts to a lot of work.
I would hope a lot smoother!

Budgie 11 is slated for Q2, given it's only just started only some testing to learn a bit of Qt has been done. The next ISO is the current priority.

How will the transition from 10 to 11 be from a user perspective?

Will it be a smooth upgrade or do I need to reinstall Solus Budgie?

Completely clean like a normal upgrade. You'll get a normal update in the Software Center and next time you log in or reboot you'll get Budgie 11 Qt :D

Hello, looking forward to Budgie 11. I am also someone looking for the next DE after Unity got discontinued.

Budgie 11 was expected Q2/2017. On the website it still says Q2/2017. Please update it on the website or else we get a feeling that development is stalled.

Also, since it is now late, I believe a blog post explaining the status of development would be nice. I am really afraid that the move to Qt was actually too much for the small dev community of Budgie to handle and this could turn out to be one of those projects that get delayed multiple times and never materializes.

I believe a lot of people have high hopes for Budgie 11 and you have an amazing opportunity now that many users are looking where to go now that Ubuntu discontinued Unity.

It's not late in the way that you think it was, development was going to start in Q2/2017. A huge amount of work has been done on improving the current budgie (which in itself is deserving of the Budgie 11 release), so that users aren't hindered by the current release while the Qt version is being developed.

Perhaps it is just from dealing with commercial software vendors, but saying 2ndQ screams release date, not development start date.

Either way that's when development of Budgie 11 started.
