On the Bungie website ( https://budgie-desktop.org/about/ ), we talk about a Roadmap ( https://budgie-desktop.org/roadmap ).
But where is the new page?

Likely it was taken down as people kept referring to it as fact, when priorities had changed and shifted to making the gtk release solid (which was equivalent enough to call it budgie 11 alone), before working on the rewrite

I was surprised that Ikey just started composing the Budgie 11 code recently. I understand that because the team has to deal with Budgie 10.

But hey, Budgie will finally be free from GTK+, and Ikey will have full control of the desktop environment. Is Budgie 11 going to have a new file explorer, new system settings app, and have most other core apps rewritten? Or will Nautilus and GNOME core apps still be used?

If Budgie 11 uses a new file explorer, I suggest naming it "Galleon", a kind of sailing ship.

The core apps will be determined on their merit as it always has been. Initially we had VLC as the default media player which is Qt based for instance.

Well for a file Explorer name, gotta be sparrow aka Jack, a pirates pirate. :)

VLC is not the default player on Gnome & Budgie anymore. It has been replaced by Gnome-MPV. It remains the default player for the MATE flavor though.
But don't be scared, VLC remains available in the repository so you can easily install it (and then you can make it your default player).

Yes, Budgie is merged back into Solus project. On a side it is sad because it means that the distros that use Budgie failed to contribute to the project in a way that would benefit to everyone, but on the other side it means that now Budgie will soon be actively developed again.
