New to Solus and I have packaging questions

Wed Sep 13, 2017 10:00 pm

Hi,

I am new and I have a few questions about packaging? How do we add third party packages to the repository? Is that something we have to request or can a package/pull request be submitted somewhere?

Also, when I download third part applications, what is the process for getting icons to show up in Budgie, especially for launching the application?

I have a background in development and I am a linux hobbyist so some of this is very new to me.

Thanks,

Jamie

The 3rd party repository has just been flagged as deprecated an hour ago : https://github.com/solus-project/3rd-party
Actually snaps packages will be integrated to the Software Center to replace the current 3rd party repository in the coming weeks.

The good news is that you can already make and publish snap packages, no need to wait for the updated software center for that :)
