[SOLVED] MAC keyboard wrong layout applied

Fri Oct 27, 2017 2:10 pm

I have a weird issue. I've selected my keyboard layout, which is Switzerland French :
Image

This is the correct layout (image from the settings). When I use the keyboard from my laptop, everything is good, but when I use a Mac keyboard and press the key left to the "1", I have the following key : "<" and it should be "§".
This is really painful because I use the "<" and ">" all the time for html coding !

I've tried different Switzerland french layouts and especially the MAC one, but it doesn't change anything...
Any idea ?

After hours of research, I've found the solution in here : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Apple_Keyboard

Here is the relevant part :
< and > have changed place with ^ and ° (or @ and #, or ` and ~)

With German layout, circumflex/degree symbol and </> are exchanged. With French layout, @/# are exchanged. With the US layout, `/~ and </> are exchanged.

To change the behavior temporarily, append 0 to /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/iso_layout. To make the change permanent, set the hid_apple iso_layout option to 0.
Hope it will save someone time someday :-P
