No audio via HDMI

Tue Dec 12, 2017 6:04 pm

Hi all, I've a problem caused by my AMD GPU wth open drivers. With these drivers there is no audio passthrough via HDMI. This problem will be probably resolved in 4.15 kernel's version but I prefer to get the audio works sooner.
So, someone knows how to solve (on Ubuntu I've used a custom 4.14 kernel with a patch) or maybe how I can try the 4.15 kernel (I'm new to Solus and I don't know if I can enable some testing repo)?

Thanks in advice.

4.15 isn't even in our testing repo yet, it's still in RC stage. If you can however link us to the custom patches for the 4.14 kernel it may be able to be included in an update.

This is the kernel.
Includes the AMDGPU code that will be present in 4.15 kernel.

I can confirm that the only way I've got audio from the HDMI of my Radeon RX 460 was to use these modified kernels which include the latest AMD DC patches. Even the RC3 of the 4.15 kernel didn't work, which was the latest RC at the time I used Linux Mint.
More about the patches can be read here: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page= ... DC-Patches
