HP Elitebook 840 G1: Can't use built-in Huawei UMTS Modem

Wed Jan 17, 2018 4:30 pm

Dear team,

I switched to Solus and I'm quite happy with your nice and solid piece of software.

The only thing that makes me struggle is my built-in HP hs3110 HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Device. Under OpenSuse Tumbleweed I had to load

# modprobe usbserial vendor=0x3f0 product=0x521d

and it was being noticed by the GNOME NetworkManager. Now it doesn't work anymore. Do you have any ideas?

Basis Specs about my system:
Model: HP Elitebook 840 G1
kernel: 4.14.13-46.current x86_64

Data:
# lsusb -s 001:004 -v

Device Descriptor:

Any updates here? Seems that my issue is kinda ignored by the team. Here or in the bugtracker. Weird.

It is still in the backlog on the bug tracker, so unfortunately the status hasn't changed (which doesn't mean it is ignored).
You may drop a line on the task itself or better ask on the #Solus-Dev channel on IRC.

Dear team,

please generate a package from the "wvdial"-project.

I would like to test, if I can help myself with that ppp-dialer-program.

Kind Regards,

Solus_BLN

For notice: The built-in 3g Modem is an HP-relabeled Huawei MU736 Modem.
