Hi folks,

I've got an HP OfficeJet 3831 wireless connected.
It works out-of-the-box for printing, thanks to Linux Driver Management.

But the scanner only works if I install the complete hplip. But why ?

The scanner will work without hplip printer manager if usb connected. . . OR . . . if you use the printer control window to scan to attached usb flash-stick.

Also, you can use your browser to install Google Cloud Print as an additional print option . . . and don't forget "localhost:631" to use CUPS (common unix print service) to manage your printer.

FWIW : I added google cloud print connector in the repository some time ago
