Install Broadcom Driver Macbook Offline Help

Sat May 27, 2017 3:05 am

Hello,

I just installed the latest version of Solus Gnome on my Macbook Pro 13" Late 2013 (8 GB RAM, i5 Haswell) and the OS is not recognizing the broadcom wifi chip.

Because my computer does not have an ethernet port, is there any way to download the appropriate driver on another computer, stick onto a flash drive, then install offline on Solus? If so, any links and code would be greatly appreciated - I'm a super noob command line let alone Linux.

Thanks!

Hello, if you have/can get a USB wifi adapter dongle (handy to have and inexpensive) then this will help you install the drivers

I think this is the boardcom-sta that would work the the ISO's kernel https://packages.solus-project.com/shan ... 6_64.eopkg

You would need to run this, but pointing the commandline to where ever the file is located on the USB or copied over to the main machine

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg install broadcom-sta-6.30.223.271-107-1-x86_64.eopkg

I have sort of a same problem on my old macbook late 2008. There is ethernet port but for some reason whenever I plug in the cable the OS freezes totally. Wi-Fi doens't work either so I thought that maybe offline installation of broadcom drivers would do the trick. Problem is, which .eopkg should I choose from https://packages.solus-project.com ? 😮
