Solus 3 is here!!!

Tue Aug 15, 2017 2:13 am

On behalf of the Solus team and community, we’re extremely proud to announce the immediate availability of Solus 3. This is the third iteration of Solus since our move to become a rolling release operating system. Unlike the previous iterations, however, this is a release and not a snapshot. We’ve now moved away from the “regular snapshot” model to accommodate the best hybrid approach possible - feature rich releases with explicit goals and technology enabling, along with the benefits of a curated rolling release operating system.

Hi Justin,

Thanks, and will there be an upgrade path for current users to 3.0?

For those who currently have Solus installed to disk...

To upgrade to 3.0, simply upgrade via software center, or terminal command sudo eopkg up. In order to use the new theming, also install the package budgie-desktop-branding-material (Thanks to Uziah at #solus for the tip!) Just be aware that this may reset your desktop settings to the default 3.0. If it doesn't and you wish to use the new 3.0 default theming, you'll want to adjust your budgie desktop settings from within the menu. The default theming, icons, fonts and others should be listed in the blog post here https://solus-project.com/2017/08/15/solus-3-released/.

Great work team - loving the new desktop experience so far! Solus and Budgie are by far my favourite OS/DE respectively.

I'd like to see in a future release being able to upgrade from a disc in case lack of Internet or similar reasons...

These new versions of Solus seems great but Budgie and GNOME versions requires more memory ( almost 700 MB for Budgie and more than 1 GB for GNOME before 330 MB and 700 MB respectively ) .
All Solus 3 versions are affected by a problem related to multipath-tools .
Look at this subject for more details :

Thank you for your job Solus Team ;)

Impressive! 8-)

Was thinking of going over to Kubuntu then i spotted the announcement on Softpedia.
Was well worth the detour!

Congrats to dev team, Solus 3 is really nice!

p.s. is it possible to make fonts slightly brighter when Dark Theme is chosen?
