Don't know how you guys manage to put out releases as good as this.

Thanks to all involved.

Great work team - loving the new desktop experience so far! Solus and Budgie are by far my favourite OS/DE respectively.

I'd like to see in a future release being able to upgrade from a disc in case lack of Internet or similar reasons...
This would be quite difficult to implement as it'd have to know what you have, then either bring in the full eopkgs or deltas for that specific version. You'd have to have the eopkg database pushed to a thumb drive then download a diff with the ISO. It's just complex to say the least.

Impressive! 8-)

Was thinking of going over to Kubuntu then i spotted the announcement on Softpedia.
Was well worth the detour!

Congrats to dev team, Solus 3 is really nice!

p.s. is it possible to make fonts slightly brighter when Dark Theme is chosen?
That'd be upto the theme itself as to what colour the font is. So you'd need to raise the issue upstream with the theme author.

Yeah that's a known issue that we're currently working on, we tried updating grub/os-prober for the new OS entries (7/8/10etc) but it caused some devices to not boot so we didn't roll it out.

These new versions of Solus seems great but Budgie and GNOME versions requires more memory ( almost 700 MB for Budgie and more than 1 GB for GNOME before 330 MB and 700 MB respectively ) .
All Solus 3 versions are affected by a problem related to multipath-tools .
Look at this subject for more details :

Thank you for your job Solus Team ;)
Is there a task on https://dev.solus-project.com/ ?

For those who currently have Solus installed to disk...

...In order to use the new theming, also install the package budgie-desktop-branding-material (Thanks to Uziah at #solus for the tip!) Just be aware that this may reset your desktop settings to the default 3.0. ... The default theming, icons, fonts and others should be listed in the blog post here https://solus-project.com/2017/08/15/solus-3-released/.

GM
Thanks. I assume the branding-material package is not really necessary if I don't want to apply the new look right now; I can merely install the stated font, icon set and gtk theme for future use.

@Justin, will the new panel applets be automatically installed after a normal sudo eopkg up?

Also, will I have to separately install Budgie Settings? I don't recall seeing it before. And with its introduction, can we remove gnome-tweak-tool? I'm assuming Gnome Control Centre is still needed. I'm using only Budgie desktop on Solus (installed either 1.1 or 1.2 some time ago) and have no intention to run Gnome 3 on it, but at one stage I think a whole lot of Gnome 3 stuff had to be pulled in.

Hi!
I've upgraded the system to Solus 3.
I've checked and actually the "Details -> Base system" label says "Solus 3 64-bit". It looks also that the new feature are working. :)

But, actually, my kernel is still at 4.9.x. Is it normal? How can I update also the kernel? I've a notebook with a Kaby Lake CPU, the new kernel would fit better (at least I think ;)).

Thank you!

ps: Great work, I'm really proud to support this!!!

Synny, Justin, Ikey or Josh, don't you think it would be a good idea to pin this topic and to unpin "Solus 2017.04.18.0 Now Released" ;)
