Will Budgie be ready for UHD-Screens?

Tue Mar 06, 2018 7:39 am

Hello,

i used Budgie for almost an year. But as i bought an 4-K-Screen (LG 27" UD59) there were some problems with the Budgie desktop. So i choose Manjaro KDE as alternative.

Will the upcoming Budgie 11 be ready for this HiDPI-Screens? Are there some plans for it?

Thank you!

Most future developments are planned for Budgie 11, and I believe better scaling is one of the items.

How do you find plasma scaling? I find I can't beat 2560x1440 with no scaling over any other configuration at 4k resolution.

Thanks for your answer. I am excited.

In my opinion Plasma is the only desktop with the best scaling options and the best results. Everything works fine. There is no need to adjust the font sizes or other configuration. I simply choosed Scaling factor = 2 (--> system settings --> hardware --> screen and monitor --> display scaling).

But Plasma is also not perfect: Gnome-Apps (f.e. gThumb) or Apps like Pinta come with very tiny icons. And in LibreOffice the drop-down menu arrows are also very thin.

Best regards
