Cursor & blinking screen instead login screen after update.

Thu May 17, 2018 10:36 am

Hello. I updated the Solus today and now the system does not start. When the login screen should appear on the screen, only cursor and the screen starts blinking. Tell me, please, how to enter the system without x and how to restore it?

Can't help but my laptop has just done the same thing.

Installed pcsx2 via software centre. Decided I didn't want it, so decided to remove it. Software centre wouldn't start again so i rebooted.

Now it starts to boot in a normal way, until I get the mouse pointer on screen (before login screen is displayed), this then disappears and I get a flashing cursor top left, then I get the mouse pointer again, then the flashing cursor and so on... does this cycle about 6 times with lots of disc activity, then everything just stops and i'm left with just the flashing cursor for ever.

Hope someone can help - my laptop's bricked!

OK after some googling this procedure fixed my laptop...

Wait for flickery-cursor-of-death
Press CTRL+ALT+F2 until you see a login prompt (text)
Login as your user
Run: sudo usysconf run -f
Run: sudo eopkg rdb
Run: sudo eopkg up
When finished (takes a while) type reboot and press enter

the usysconf one runs all system triggers (-f forces them all to run)
eopkg rdb forces a rebuild of the eopkg database
sudo eopkg up performs a full system upgrade, applying any missing updates and pending triggers

Hope it works for you!
