How can I downgrade PHP from 7.2 to 7.1

Sat Jun 02, 2018 2:15 am

Hello

I need to have PHP 7.1 installed, but the version from repo is 7.2
Is there anyway to downgrade it to 7.1 or just install 7.1?

As far as I know Solus does not allow us to add third-party repository, right?

Solus does no such thing...however, you'd need to find someone providing that package for Solus in a Solus repo. The reason there aren't really any, cause packages get into the main repo and managed there.

From what I've seen from developers, they tend to build and use their own local copies regardless if the correct version is in the repo to ensure they always have the package that they need. I have no clue if there's anyone providing 3rd party binaries for PHP

Have You considered using virtual machine with LAMP/LNMP stack, such as Laravel Homestead?

It works and feels seamless. For a long time, I used to have PHP and MySQL installed on my machine, but now I like to keep the main box clean. And I can have numerous PHP/MySQL/Nginx/Apache combinations/versions for every project specific needs.
