[Solved] KDevelop crashes on startup

Tue Jul 10, 2018 5:30 pm

One time I was using KDevelop. It randomly crashed. Now, I cannot open it up anymore, as it crashes on startup. I've updated everything for a few weeks that followed, but nothing solved the issue.

Here's what I've got when I tried running it from the console:

Code: Select all

Icon theme "ubuntu-mono-dark" not found.
Icon theme "gnome" not found.
kdevplatform.serialization: version mismatch or no version hint; expected version: 84017920
kdevplatform.serialization: "The data-repository at /home/ignas/.cache/kdevduchain/kdevelop-{c7f14c58-011f-4613-ad2b-325e8e5e21ba} has to be cleared."
QObject::connect: No such signal QDBusAbstractInterface::acceptDebuggingApplication()
QObject::connect: No such signal QDBusAbstractInterface::acceptDebuggingApplication()
KCrash: Application 'kdevelop' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib64/kf5/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/run/user/1000/kdeinit5__0

[1]+  Stopped                 kdevelop
Any help would be appreciated

Delete the cache, maybe even as far back as ~/.cache/kdevduchain

First validate your installed packages via https://solus-project.com/articles/trou ... ooting/en/ and perform a full update

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg up
Then create a new user and try to load kdevelop as a fresh user to see if the issue lies in your home directory.

Thank you, very solid advice!

Turns out, the ~/.config/kdeveloprc was the culprit. Deleting it solved the problem!
