how to edit libcrypt ?

Sat Jul 21, 2018 4:14 am

I want to edit the files of libcrypt, but they are apparently compiled when solus installation is running.
How can I edit the files of libcrypt, - before - they are compiled ?
This concerns files libcrypt.a and libcrypt.so
They are located in /usr/lib64/

If you want to change the source, you have to build it yourself.

Is this correct?

This concerns ANSI C Crypto Library ?

I would have to edit libcrypt, when I want to change some sizes for libcrypto.a and for libcrypto.so ?

Then compile it and merge it into Linux installation ?

Hello Kyrios,

sorry, that I am sometimes still "noobish" with how to treat Solus and its packages.

But I need an example for following ...

It is that I am used a too long time to Ubuntu and to Debian.

For to improve command mcrypt - I would have to do this in Debian :

fetching libmcrypt package, mcrypt package and libmcrypt-dev package

Then I would be able to edit mcrypt package for my intentions and re-compile it.

How would this look in solus, what would I have to do step by step (for to edit sources) ?!

Well I guess the easiest way to a achieve this is to update the package. For this you have to setup your environment

Do I need in Solus then libmcrypt-dev package ? Is it avaliable ? Is this necessary like in Debian ?

Or can I edit and compile directly mcrypt-package without any dependencies ?

Ideally you just build a package in solbuild, then you don't have to install any dependencies...information is covered on the Help Center
