I need to be able to write and modify my external HDD but I can only read them.
I checked proprieties but it says that I can't change permission because I am not the owner. Owner appears to be root. I did a search here and what I could find is this: "open terminal -> sudo nautilus you will likely see in the left hand panel - home - trash - Documents and a long row of numbers/letters this is a drive's UUID.
Right click on the UUID -> list click Properties - Permissions - change from root to you"
I did this and changed Access to Create and Delete files. Under Owner now it was saying that it was me. So it should have worked.
But I still couldn't create a folder.
I closed the terminal, ejected the external HDD and tried to do the whole thing again. But this time, when I write in the terminal sudo nautilus, I get this message:
sudo: error in /etc/sudo.conf, line 0 while loading plugin "sudoers_policy"
sudo: /usr/lib64/sudo/sudoers.so must be only be writable by owner
sudo: fatal error, unable to lead plugins
What am I doing wrong?
I am new to Linux, like I started using it today so be kind
