Dual Boot Windows 10 and Solus

Wed Dec 30, 2015 11:31 am

Hi Everyone

I want install solus to my notebook Fujitsu 574, that already have windows 8.1 (upgrade to Win 10)
this is my installation step :
1. resize windows partition
2. create 2 partition (for / and swap)
3. disable secureboot
4. install solus OS from USB drive
- root partition /dev/sda7
- swap partition /dev/sda8
in the boot loader instalation, i choose (install) /dev/sda3 ===> partition boot EFI
5. Install success and the installer told me to restart
6. after reboot, the sistem directly boot to windows

what i've miss here ?

=======
Note :
I've installed easyUEFI in windows machine, and i add new entry menu "Solus" and select path \EFI\goofiboot\goofibootx64.efi
after that, i put the new list to the first boot order
after restart, the system bring to OS selection (like boot from USB), and the selection is :
- Windows Boot Loader ===> boot to windows
- EFI Default Loader ====> boot to windows
- Reboot info firmware interface ==> boot to BIOS page

thanks

Is /dev/sda a GPT partition scheme and is /dev/sda3 a Fat32 partition?

Yes, /dev/sda is a GPT partition and /dev/sda3 is Fat32 partition where EFI files located

Thanks

easyUEFI is probably the problem here.

We register goofiboot in the EFI Firmware, and the highest priority bootloader is apparently easyUEFI, which ignores us.

You should see Linux Boot Manager, like this:

Code: Select all

Boot Loader Entries in EFI Variables:
        Title: Linux Boot Manager
           ID: 0x0001
       Status: active, boot-order
    Partition: /dev/disk/by-partuuid/e90f44b5-bb8a-41af-b680-b0bf5b0f2a65
         File: └─/EFI/goofiboot/goofibootx64.efi

hello

i repeat the whole process,
1. restore bios config
2. uninstall easyUEFI
3. my Boot Priority Order in BIOS :
---1. USBHDD
---2. Windows Boot Manager
---3. Floppy Disk Drive
---4. Drive0 HDD: ST500LM000
---5. USB CD/DVD
---6. Network
4. Boot from USB to Install Solus
5. re-Install Solus OS
---- Select /dev/sda7 to /
---- Select /dev/sda8 to swap
---- Check Install Boot Loader, and select /dev/sda3 from the list (only 1 option)
6. Install success
7. Reboot
8. I check in Bios for Boot priority Order, and still the same list, Theres no Linux Boot Manager

thanks for your help :)

OK I know this may sound silly but when you boot off of the usb are you selecting "EFI Default Loader" to boot into Solus??
If not you need to.

mrefizzy: Did you check the option to "Install Boot Loader" on installation?

Return to “Installation”
