The first intelligent humanoid robot, known as “WABOT-1,” was created in Japan in 1972. Since then, several sectors have produced and trained robots to carry out challenging jobs.

An AI boom (1980–1987): Governments began to see the potential of how valuable AI systems may be for the economy and armed forces during the first AI winter (1974–1980). Software and expert systems have been built to mimic the human brain’s capacity to make machine decisions. Backpropagation, a method that makes use of neural networks to comprehend a problem and identify the ideal solution, was employed.

The AI Winter (1987–1993) saw IBM translate a collection of multilingual lines from English to French at the end of the year 1988. As AI and machine learning progressed, Yann LeCun used the backpropagation technique to read handwritten ZIP codes effectively in 1989. The system took three days to deliver the data, but it was still quick enough considering the hardware restrictions.

Intelligent agents’ emergence (1993–2011): In 1997, IBM created a chess-playing computer called “Deep Blue” that twice defeated Garry Kasparov, the reigning world champion. In 2002, artificial intelligence made its first foray into residential appliances by creating the “Roomba” vacuum cleaner. This information will now be split into an 80:20 ratio. Our labelled data will make up 80% of the data, and the remaining 20% will be our test data. As a result, we have the results for all data collected between 2006 and 2019.

What happens after we gather the data? We will feed the computer with the labelled data (train data), or 80 per cent of the data. The algorithm, in this case, is picking up knowledge from the data that has been put into it.

The algorithm needs to be tested next. In this step, we input the machine’s test data or the last 20% of the data. We get the output from the device. We cross-verify the machine’s work with the data’s actual output to see whether it is accurate.

If the model does not meet our standards for accuracy, we adjust the algorithm to provide results that are accurate or at least reasonably near to the actual results. Following our satisfaction with the model, we feed it new data to anticipate the weather for 2020.
